A number of creative initiatives were launched this year by the new management team of the VicenzaOro show. Last May, two radically different events were organized: "Off", a display of 2012/2013 trends and "Chi ha paura?", an exhibition of artistic jewelry pieces which were, to say the least, unsettling. Six months ago, the trade show's new president strongly affirmed VicenzaOro's goal of becoming the worldwide center of jewelry creation. Some certainly creative initiatives were launched. For starters, a cafeteria was opened at the entrance of the show with a welcoming terrace. Next to this important meeting place, an exhibition hall named “Off” presented a well-designed display of objects, gadgets, textures, materials, colors, shapes, and designs foreshadowing the 2012/2013 trends. Another major event named "Chi ha paura?" was organized, this time in the very center of VicenzaOro. Who is afraid?: a manifesto born out of the desire of its founder, Gijs Bakker, to promote a type of jewelry where design takes precedence over the precious (or valuable) aspect of gems. The first show was held in Milan in 1996 at the Furniture Show.
