On September 23rd, Eric Besson, the Minister of Industry, Energy and Digital Economy, signed a charter with the French jewelry industry at the headquarters of the UFBJOP (French Union of Jewelry, Gold, Pearls and Stones). Orion attended this event and was able to speak with the minister following his visit. In 2009, while faced with an economic crisis that affected the jewelry sector, the UFBJOP commissioned a diagnostic and prospective study to identify catalysts for securing the survival and future of the industry. A comprehensive study on the relations between key industry players was carried out. This project, which was part of the government’s industrial development plan, received financial support from the French state. The conclusions of the report have resulted in the launch of phase one of the sector’s action plan, “Impulsion 2010-2011.”
