In a world of increasing economic inequality, the covetous feelings of others are causing real damage…damage that is as easy for brigands to cause as it is poorly punished by the law. Since it is impossible to prevent these kinds of crimes, here are a few ways (which, unfortunately, are often expensive) to protect yourself from them. Not a week goes by in France without a jeweler or watchmaker being robbed. No one (or almost no one) talks about it, because these aggressions and other attacks rarely occur with the use of explosives or on the street. While they may be less dramatic and therefore less “juicy” for sensation-hungry journalists, the human consequences of these robberies are no less disastrous. When faced with hate and violence, there is nothing to do but give in. This is the main priority because nothing is more precious than life. Of course, this could leave some people with a bitter feeling of helplessness. But retaliating generally serves only to escalate the violence from which a jeweler is not certain to escape with his life.
